Hi,
I'm Tom and this is my personal sampling project, smpld.
In its simplest form, sampling is the process of creating a digital instrument through the recording of sound. Sample libraries are collections of sounds, often focused on the recreation of physical instruments - allowing individuals to use instruments they may not normally have access to. If you've ever heard a keyboard, you've heard a sampled instrument.
FELT PIANO
smpld.
A double felted Yamaha U3 upright, recorded in a small studio with closely placed stereo mics to capture the intimate, mellow character of the piano. This instrument was created with the intention to capture something authentic, so I didn't wait for the perfect take or noise reduce each sample beyond recognition. The end result is something that sounds real, feels personal, and sits naturally beneath your fingers.
